James Montgomery Doohan was born in Northern Ireland in 1920. His family moved to Canada not long after. He was the youngest of four children. His father, a drunk, beat him often as an outlet for his anger. Partly as a way to get away from his rough home life, he joined the army and was a captain during WWII. He was the first of his group on the beach in the D-Day invasion of Normandy. After being shot up in the right leg and right hand, he became a pilot for the military. Afterwards he began acting, and eventually he became the character we all know to "Beam us up" when the landing party is in trouble. The original Scotty of Star Trek. He had 7 children, was Roman Catholic, and known for his kind and fun personality. ♥
